Troubleshoot Password Sync Fail
If you are called for password sync fail issues please perform the below steps
- Log into o365students.uta.edu
- Open application log and look for event ID 656 and 657 as indicated below. This should process once every two minutes maximum and should always be at the top of the Application event Log. If the event log is like below then everything is fine with password sync. However, if you log in and do not see the below but rather Event ID 611 then continue to step 3.
- If the Application Event Log looks like below then perform a restart on the Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service. This will also restart the Windows Azure Active Directory Sync Service which is fine. Once both have restarted wait 10 minutes and check the Application Event Log once again for Event ID 656 and 657. If this does not appear then proceed to step 4.
- If you are at this step the next option will be a server restart. After the server has restarted log back in and start the Windows Azure Active Directory Sync Service (this will also start the Forefront Identity Manager Synchronization Service). Once these services are restarted wait 10 minutes and then open the Application log once again and look for Event IDs 656 and 657. If they are not present then please contact me because I will have to look at o365 services on Microsoft side. If both are present then password sync is working properly once again.
